You will have the opportunity to harvest and deliver vegetables and meals to elders in the community and gain experience in cooking and preserving techniques. You will dive into harvest season on a farm as well as learn how to cook with our chef partners. You will practice leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
You will team up to throw a harvest food event for the community to share the crew’s work.
Intention of Culinary Crew
- Participants will experience a deeper connection to the land, their community, each other and themselves, and everyone will be excited about food in Maine.
- They will master core skills necessary to harvest, cook, and preserve local foods in delicious ways. They will also develop an understanding of how their work contributes to a more sustainable food system and a stronger community. Finally, they will gain job skills and learn about careers throughout the food system while visiting local professionals.
