Join Cultivating Community for what we’re confident will be one of your most delightful and delicious evenings this summer!

You are warmly invited to join Cultivating Community for a memorable evening. Please take part in our 2013 season of casual, three-course Thursday night Twilight Dinners in the orchard of Turkey Hill Farm on Cape Elizabeth (cooked with fresh produce grown at Turkey Hill Farm by youth growers and new American farmers in Cultivating Community’s programs).

We eat every day, but it can be hard to remember all our joyful and restorative options for eating as we swim against a sea of processed products hyped for convenience and artificially low cost. With industrial agriculture, the essential nature of food, its capacity for grounding people in their humanity, their connection to the land, and to each other, can easily become lost. 

At Cultivating Community, we build diverse community participation in food production, and, at the same time, we believe, along with Wendell Berry, that eating is an agricultural act. We need to remind ourselves and our friends of the fact that sharing and eating locally grown food while we enjoy each other’s company is at the heart of our mission. Over the years, we have developed a summer celebration that allows us to do just that.

Each Twilight Dinner is prepared by a southern Maine star chef. Your participation, at the cost of $40 per person (BYOB), will not only support our work, but will also, we hope, provide you with one of the most memorable nights of your summer season.
